Penang, Pearl of the Orient (Part 2)

Reaching Up
Reaching Up is a mural painted on a wall along Cannon Street, Georgetown. It is located across the street from the Anak-Anak Kota clubhouse, and within a short walking distance to Khoo Kongsi and the Acheen Street Mosque.
"Reaching Up" depicts a little boy reaching for a hole in the wall. He appears to be standing on a chair and inching himself as high as he could reach. The painting was created by Ernest Zacharevic in conjunction with the 2012 Georgetown Festival. Since its completion, it has grown increasing number of visitors coming to take photos with it.

Little Children on a Bicycle
Little Children on a Bicycle is a mural on the wall of a shophouse on Armenian Street, Georgetown. It is one of the two murals along that street painted by London-trained artist Ernest Zacharevic, in conjunction with the 2012 Georgetown Festival. It depicts a little girl taking her younger brother on a bicycle ride. The joy in their faces echoes down the street, providing a ray of cheer and adding character to Armenian Street. As with some of the other works by Zacharevic, Little Children on a Bicycle combines mural painting with real props, in this case, an old bicycle, to create a 3D rendition. The artist works from actual photographs.

Left: Little Boy with Pet Dinosaur mural is a whimsical mural painted on the wall at Ah Quee Street, Georgetown, Penang. The painting is the work of Zacharevic, in conjunction with the 2012 Georgetown Festival. "Little Boy with Pet Dinosaur" depicts a small boy taking his dinosaur for a walk. The fact that the dinosaur is rendered in the form of child-like graffiti expresses the creative mind of small children and how they merge fantasy with reality. This painting works so well despite its off best subjects.

Right: "Boy on Bike" is painted on the side door of a shophouse. It shows a boy hanging out on his motorcycle as he watches the pedestrian traffic passing by along the street. The mural is immediately to the right of  "Little Boy with Pet Dinosaur"

Little Girl in Blue
"The Girl in Blue" shows a little girl lifting herself up on both hands. In the original photograph, the little girl has her hands on the side of tables, but in the mural, she is perched over the two windows. "The Girl in Blue" is one of the two larger-than-life murals created by Zacharevic for Georgetown.
This Old Man

This Old Man is a giant mural on the wall of a shophouse facing Armenian Street in Georgetown, Penang. The painting, which appears somewhat incomplete, depicts an elderly man who appears to be preparing a drink for himself. It was also painted by Zacharevic for the 2012 Georgetown Festival. The "This Old Man" mural required the scaffolding to be erected on the wall for the artist to work. It is one of the two larger-than-life murals that Zacharevic worked on.

The Awaiting Trishaw Paddler
The Awaiting Trishaw paddler is a giant mural that graces the wall of a building on Penang Road. It faces the Red Garden Food Paradise Car Park. the mural depicts an elderly trishaw paddler sitting in his vehicle, probably waiting for customers. It is a fitting tribute to the trishaw paddlers who congregate at the trishaw station across the road, in front of the St Francis Xavier Church. The Awaiting Trishaw Paddler mural was one of those painted by Ernest Zacharevic, as part of the Mirrors Georgetown project. It measures 15.2m by 15.2m, and is probably the largest of the mural painted by Zacharevic in Gerogetown! :D
